what is a giclee?

I understand that not all of the customers who would like to own my artwork are able to afford an original. This is why I have chosen to offer beautiful high-quality limited edition giclee prints of selected works. The giclee printing process provides the closest duplication of artwork that is humanly, mechanically or technically possible.

Giclee (pronounced zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high resolution digital print and is a recognized fine art print category like lithographs and serigraphs. Producing a giclee print is a slow and meticulous process which requires the skill of an artist to create the highest quality edition possible. The giclees are printed on either Epson media canvas or watercolor paper. Epson canvas is acid free, 100% cotton duck. Epson watercolor paper is acid free, 100% cotton rag. Both are archival quality and are used with Epson Ultrachroma pigment inks, which are rated up to 100 years light fastness. Numerous examples of giclee prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries.

The true test of any reproduction is how closely it resembles the original. The result is a stunningly detailed archival print that can be almost indiscernible from the original. Each one of the prints produced from my work has been carefully checked by me to ensure accuracy to the original. This means I can offer my artwork at an affordable price without compromising the quality. Because my art is produced in limited editions of 500, your giclee print will be a more valuable addition to your art collection. Each one of my prints is numbered and signed by me. Lori
